BLUE BRIGADE:

THE COUP

The citizens of Buckministan live under the iron grip of their brutal dictator, Generalissimo Buckmaster, who seized power during a military coup in July of 2016, and for whom the state was renamed after. A charismatic leader and brilliant military strategist, the Generalissimo quickly turned the country from a failing, corporate-capitalist democracy, into the harsh, quasi-fascist dictatorship that we know today, through a series of controversial reforms such as restricting voting rights, compulsory military service, and ending nearly all government aid projects. Hailed by some as a savior, doing what is necessary to rid the country of the corruption that has plagued its politics for decades, and others as nothing more than a self-serving tyrant, hell bent on consolidating power for personal gain, his regime makes zero attempt to hide the brutality used to quell dissent. One thing is clear, hero or villain, under Generalissimo Buckmaster's rule, the country will likely remain in a tumultuous state for some time.

THE BRIGADE

The Blue Brigade was formed in the aftermath of Generalissimo Buckmaster's coup as a specialized policing unit to keep a lid on rebellious elements in the population. As Buckmaster's regime continued to implement more controversial policies and harsher penalties for refusing to follow those policies, dissent among the civilian population fermented and rebel factions formed, taking ever more aggressive actions against the state. Predictably, this resulted in the Brigade ballooning in size and funding. This back and forth continued for years until the rebel factions consolidated into the Red Rebellion after the failed attempt on the dictator's life in May of 2018, declaring an open state of civil war in the country. Today, the Blue Brigade is a fully-equipped and well-trained, veteran military organization that is given broad license on how it's commanders choose to eliminate the Rebellion forces in the country. Secret police, illegal wire tapping, summary judgements and public executions are common.

THE 1st BATTALION

The 1st Battalion, 1st regiment, is the oldest, most decorated unit in the Brigade, famed for the elimination of the Black Sands faction of rebels, led by Khasim Ludinev, an early rebel faction who were responsible for the first organized attempt on Generalissimo Buckmaster's life, and who would later regroup under the flag of the Red Rebellion. Currently stationed in the Katana District of Buckministan's former (now destroyed) commerce sector, the 1st Battalion has been in a near constant state of combat since the Red Rebellion attempted to take the sector in May of 2019. The territory has changed hands multiple times during the conflict, with casualties continuing to mount on both sides.

YOUR UNIT

Your unit, Fox company, 4th platoon is tasked with pacifying the the northern portion of Katana district (formerly the capital's commerce sector). The area is active with rebel forces and deemed a free fire zone, but, despite almost zero remaining infrastructure and daily firefights, it is still populated. Locals there are armed, with varying allegiances. Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.

RED REBELLION:

THE POLICY

Once in power, Generalissimo Buckmaster instituted a series of controversial reforms that he deemed "necessary to correct the ship", referring to his repeated analogy of the state as a ship careening off course. The binary nature of the political landscape at the time meant that regardless of the policy being implemented, half the country was upset before they had read a word of the policies being presented, making rebellion practically inevitable. The new regime calculated successfully, at least initially, that the leftist socialists that made up the bulk of the dissenters, and who were adamantly against civilian possession of firearms at the time, wouldn't have the means to fight, as they were generally young, untrained pacifists. "They can cry all they want, what the **** are they going to do about it?" -Generalissimo Buckmaster referencing the routine opposition rallies held outside the Capitol during his first reforms. On April 9th, 2017, Dictatorial Decree DD-016 was issued, which ended universal suffrage and replaced it with an "earned credit system" that required citizens to earn their right to vote, each election cycle, through acts of service to the state, effectively stripping millions of citizens of their voting rights.

KHASIM LUDINEV

Born into a prominent family, college-educated Khasim Ludinev was, by all accounts, a quiet, studious academic who, before the coup, was studying for his masters in political science. Those close to him noted that he had an interest in the history of political activism and socialism, believing corporate-capitalism was primarily to blame for the current issues in the country, and lecturing ad nauseum to anyone who would listen. The disparity of his calm-but-persistent conversational demeanor, and his interest in violent revolution seems ironic today after the events of May 13, 2018. Ludinev seems to have been radicalized some time after the passing of DD-016 and later evidence found in his home show that this was a major factor in his actions one year later. After the decree was passed, Ludinev began holding regular meetings with other students and faculty in protest to the regime's policies. These rallies grew with time but were largely ignored by the regime as the attendees weren't thought to be armed. At the time, the regime's focus was on consolidating power in the military and local jurisdictions and little attention was given to civilian dissent. By the time the regime became concerned about the size of Ludinev's following and began making arrests, it was too late; Ludinev had vanished.

THE ATTEMPT

On May 13th, 2018, a massive protest was organized on the west end of the capital, near the commerce district. The protest drew over a hundred thousand people into the streets. Eventually the protests became more hostile and began moving towards the Capitol building,  surrounding it over time. The regime ordered the newly-formed Blue Brigade to surround the Capitol and shoot anyone trying to push past them. As the protestors' intensity increased, Brigade security forces began ramping up the removal of armed instigators from the crowd. Security forces worrying that the protest would soon grow beyond their ability to control it, advised the Generalissimo to evacuate the Capitol building. Eventually the dictator agreed. At 1932 hours, an armored, undercover motorcade, disguised as civilian vehicles, exited the east loading dock in the rear of the Capitol building and began moving towards the edge of the Capitol's security perimeter, where protestors seemed to be minimal. As the motorcade exited the perimeter and made its first turn onto Capitol Blvd. an RPG was fired from high in an adjacent parking structure, striking the roof of the first vehicle and setting off a coordinated ambush by, none other than, Ludinev himself, along with a small contingent of two dozen followers. The motorcade was destroyed along with 23/25 security forces killed, but Generalissimo Buckmaster wasn't among them. The Generalissimo had anticipated the move, based on the notable lack of protesters near the east gate seeming suspicious, and chose to remain inside the Capitol bunker, sending the motorcade out as bait. Ludinev was reported to have been shot during the fighting but managed to escape. 8 of his men were also killed. Generalissimo Buckmaster, upon reports of the attack, used the event as justification and ordered his Brigade to clear the area surrounding the Capitol by firing into the crowd. By 2200 hours, the Capitol was silent and more than 500 protestors lay dead, 490 of which were unarmed, and countless hundreds wounded.

YOUR UNIT

Your unit, Capitol forces, Alpha company, 3rd platoon, is tasked with retaking the commerce sector, once and for all. The local population is either with you or against you. If they aren't willing to fight the fascists, then they have no place in our new society. Death to Capital!

Civilians

CIVILIANS:

THE FALL OF ACIREMA

Before the coup and resulting war, the country of Buckministan (formerly Acirema "As-seer-ima") wasn't any more united than it is now. Blatant political corruption, a binary economic system and a manipulative media, pushed most civilians in the country to the point of indifference, if not dismay. Despite social media and modern communications technology, the population became more isolated than unified, which, in turn, led to an increase of violence and crime, as the fabric of the nation seemed to collapse. To some, the eventual rise of Generalissimo Buckmaster showed promise, as he swore a return to the days of old, and to "drain the swamp", a reference to rooting out and punishing any corrupt politicians currently in office, but his divisive policies and the elimination of nearly all entitlement programs, programs that tens of millions of citizens were accustomed, all but ensured the country would fall into a bitter civil war. Some have argued that civil war was his intention all along, but others hold that it was simply the inevitable conclusion to the sickness that plagued the country for decades prior.

VARYING ALLEGIENCES

Post coup, as rebellion and conflict spread, civilians were bombarded with propaganda to join both sides. The Blue Brigade promised jobs, security and the continuity of the conventional family unit, while the Red Rebellion appealed more to the rebellious and anarchistic tendencies of the youth, promising them glory and a place in the new government, while villainizing the older generation as the cause of the war. Favor in the conflict may have leaned towards Red's young, energized base, if not for the fact that so many of the older civilian population were veterans, and armed. In the end, most of the civilian population simply chose to dig in and wait out the conflict, refusing to join either side. However, as the conflict continued, and resources became scarce, many civilians, that once opposed joining either faction, found themselves with the tough decision of either working for the factions as paid contractors, fleeing their homes or almost certain starvation. With no real ideological motives beyond protecting their own families and property, the current civilian population, that has chosen to remain in Buckministan, can be characterized as nothing more than fragments; An existence wrought with betrayal, revenge killings, and theft, as each individual struggles to survive.

YOUR FAMILY

As a civilian, you are concerned with protecting yourself, your family, and your property. You may form allegiances with either faction, both factions or neither. You may choose to help your neighbor or turn them in to a faction for a bounty. You may hold up in your home and accrue funds from your current supply bricks or choose to risk losing them and raid neighbors or faction supply points for more bricks. You can horde those bricks and attempt to become a rich warlord, hiring your neighbors as security, or just be an agent of chaos, using your somewhat shielded status as a civilian to traverse the warzone, looking for your next target. This is the wild west, do whatever you want, nothing matters. No gods, no masters.

FACTION ROLES

THESE ROLES APPLY TO BOTH RED AND BLUE FACTIONS
ATTENTION: THIS IS NOT A MAGFED EVENT!

If you are solely a MAGFED player, please choose either a MAGFED or HYBRID role ("HYBRID" means either hopper or magazine fed). If you are a MAGFED player and choose a HOPPER role, you're really screwing your team.

ATTENTION: KIT RESTRICTIONS WILL BE ENFORCED!

Failure to follow the KIT RESTRICTIONS will cost your faction points each infraction. Repeated offense will result in your removal from play.

HOPPER ROLE

RIFLEMAN

x10

KIT RESTRICTIONS

PER FACTION

  • 3K psi air fill

  • Player may carry a MAXIMUM of 2 pods during play

  • Additional pods may be carried onto the field via the field-supplied Squad Assault Pack (see HERE)

PLAYING THE ROLE

You are the maneuver element of your fireteam/squad. While the machine gunners keep enemy heads down, your goal is to close with and destroy the enemy through fire and maneuver tactics, grenades or hand to hand combat (AKA barrel tags, don't actually monkey stomp anyone or you will be asked to leave). You will be the primary element breaching and clearing rooms so make sure you pack plenty of frags.

HOPPER ROLE

GUNNER

x3

KIT RESTRICTIONS

PER FACTION

  • 4.5K psi air fill

  • No limit to number of pods you can carry

PLAYING THE ROLE

You are the base of fire for your fireteam/squad. You have been blessed by the Rule Gods to be granted, essentially, unlimited ammo capacity. You should NOT be the first through the door. A machine gunner's purpose is either 1) to suppress enemy movement and keep their heads down to allow for the riflemen in your unit to maneuver, or 2) to create a wall of paint, with interlocking fields of fire, to prevent and counter enemy advances. Firefights are won by maneuvering, and maneuvering doesn't happen without fire superiority!

Role - Marksman (Shadowed).png

MAGFED ROLE

MARKSMAN

x3

KIT RESTRICTIONS

PER FACTION

  • MAGFED ONLY

  • 3K psi air fill

  • The only players allowed to shoot First Strike Rounds

PLAYING THE ROLE

Designated Marksmen are not "snipers". They are specially kitted Riflemen whos purpose is to provide more precise overwatch at longer distances than machine gunners generally provide. Your goal should be to cover your unit as they breach and clear structures, counter enemy marksmen, and/or cover objectives from enemy capture. If you find yourself breaching doorways, especially at $0.50/round, something has gone terribly wrong.

Role - Breacher (Shadowed)_edited.png

MAGFED ROLE

BREACHER

x2

KIT RESTRICTIONS

PER FACTION

  • Magfed Pistol ONLY

  • 3K psi air fill

  • No limit on number of mags you can carry

  • Shield issued by field

PLAYING THE ROLE

You are clearly a masochist. I hope you're wearing padding. As the name suggests, your role as the Breacher is to help facilitate entry and clearing of the structures throughout the field. Each Breacher is issued an identical field shield to help with clearing rooms. The shield has a viewport and, yes, you can get shot through it. This is a PISTOL ONLY role. Since you won't be shooting as much as other players, we suggest you bring COPIOUS frags!

FactionDesignator_edited_edited.jpg

HYBRID ROLE

ENGINEER

x2

KIT RESTRICTIONS

PER FACTION

  • 3K psi air fill

  • Player may NOT carry any additional pods on them

  • If using a MAGFED gun, player may carry as many mags as they want

PLAYING THE ROLE

Your objective is to construct/deconstruct field fortifications. Your ammo capacity is limited to ensure that you are focused on your job and not your kill count. There are multiple barricades and fortifications at your disposal and can be interacted with via the provided socket wrench. You are also the only players capable of planting and disarming bombs, which makes you a prime target for the enemy.

HYBRID ROLE

COMMANDO

x4

KIT RESTRICTIONS

PER FACTION

  • 3K psi air fill

  • Player may carry a MAXIMUM of 2 pods during play

  • No limit on number of mags you can carry

PLAYING THE ROLE

Your objective is backfield mayhem. Before each game, you will be pre-deployed onto the field at a designated spot (see COMMANDO GAMEPLAY via the CONTINUE TO GAME DETAILS button below for more details) and given a short period to move before the primary forces are released from their FOBs. You should be focused on harassing the enemy to slow movements, reconnaissance, and relaying troop movements and objective locations to command.

FactionDesignator_edited_edited.jpg
Role - Armor (Shadowed).png

HOPPER ROLE

CREWMAN

x4

KIT RESTRICTIONS

PER FACTION

  • 4.5K psi air fill

  • Player may NOT carry any additional pods on them during play. All additional pods, air tanks, cases etc. must be stored INSIDE your armor or FOB during play

PLAYING THE ROLE

You are the single biggest asset in the game. Armor is often the difference between your faction's victory or defeat. Your objective is to ASSIST infantry as they clear structures by cordoning off lanes to prevent enemy reinforcement and movement. You should NEVER attempt to "Leroy Jenkins" anything without infantry in close support or you will. be. dead. immediately. You are extremely vulnerable to enemy infantry if they get too close. If used properly, however, your armor will have more firepower than anything else on the field.

THE CREWMAN ROLE IS DISABLED

It will return after we have built the new, lighter-framed armored vehicles. Until then, the existing armor may be used by any player.

FACTION STRUCTURE (suggested)

Red and Blue are MILITARY factions with identical command structures. Commanders MAY amend this structure as they see fit, but we warn you, with limited manpower, you'll want to maintain something similar, otherwise rally points, lines of communication, unit cohesion and battlespace awareness will become difficult to maintain as players and assets become fragmented around the battlefield.

Faction Structure_edited.png

CIVILIAN ROLE

THERE IS ONLY ONE CIVILIAN ROLE BUT MULTIPLE VARIATIONS

As a civilian, you'll basically start unarmed. All members of your family can store your guns (provided they comply with the Kit Restrictions below) in the provided lock box located in your designated home. These boxes can't be searched by faction players and are not involved in the game. However, your FAMILY starts with basically no ammo. You'll need to perform missions for Factions or steal to accrue Buckministan "Bucks" that you can turn use at the Bank of Buckministan between games to purchase ammo. Read the Game Mechanics page for details on playing as a Civilian.

KIT RESTRICTIONS
  • 3K psi air fill

  • Player may not use any pod harnesses, mag pouches or tactical pouches of any kind, during play (your pockets are free game)

  • 100 rnd hopper max or magfed

  • Must wear a white shirt at all times during play

PLAYING THE ROLE

You are the civilian population of Buckministan. This is your home but you are not a third military faction. Civilians have competing interests, are fighting for a finite number of resources, and generally don't trust anyone outside of your "family". Your only real mission is to defend your home and family against ANY enemy that threatens it. Would you prefer to just be a loner anarchist? How about a wealthy warlord or faction spy? Maybe even a charismatic leader to unite the fragmented civilian families and fight both factions into submission? You have free reign to choose whatever path you want.
