CAX ROADMAP
SEE YOUR MONEY AT WORK, IMPROVING BUCKMINISTAN!
PROPS, PROPS, PROPS!
With the field in a "close-enough-to-finished state", and our CNC machine FINALLY up and running ;) we will be focusing our time and money heavily in the direction of new, badass props. Hopefully you'll be seeing pretty regular updates on new party favors, if Generalissimo Buckmaster can ever get away from the never ending to-do list that is Glory Paintball.
VERTICALITY
We plan to continue adding more playability upstairs in the containers (i.e. windows and platforms, but we have so many players shooting over the containers that we can't add the openings until we figure out how to stop the balls going over the walls. Initially we'd hoped to do a third row of containers, but the expense just isn't justifiable currently, so, we've come up with a cheaper, more modular design that will allow us to add the netting and windows to individual buildings as we have the funds. We will be starting on the neighborhood first, with the goal of finishing 1 field at a time now that all are playable enough.
TREES AND BUSHES
Since we have to do a bunch of landscaping in the spring anyway, to appease the city gods, we thought it would be cool to add some extra trees and bushes to the field. We will start with the Neighborhood, to give it some character and see how it plays. If the added greenery makes concealment more interesting than we will add more to the other fields down the road.
NEW FIELD! - MACHINEGUN ALLEY
Originally this idea was just to create a new path for future vehicle use and add the ability to "hard flank" an enemy, but then we started thinking, "oh my god... machine guns... enfilade fire! ORGASMIC!!!" So, depending on CAX turnout in the next event or two, you may see this field very soon.
ARMOR UPGRADE
So the armor has obviously gotten better with each CAX and can be seen as an indicator of how much time and money we had at the time of their construction (Tank 1 was a wooden box with tin panels and had to be picked up to walk with haha). The current vehicles are legit, but boy are they heavy. Also, they were built to be 1:1 of a Humvee and Toyota Hilux, which seemed cool at the time, but in a small field like Buckministan, we really should have designed them off a more compact, smaller turning radius vehicle. The plan is to make the final iterations out of aluminum, designed from the ground up for functionality in Buckministan's tight alleyways.
ASPHALT STREETS
This is hella expensive and probably not the most important idea, BUT adding asphalt streets (along with machinegun alley) would give a circular track that rolls through the city and around the back of the field, making it possible to do some really cool convoy-style missions. Plus, we'd be digging some legit drainage ditches on either side of the road, keeping the field dry during the wet months and creating some micro-terrain in the process. And it would look cool af.
BRINGING BUCKMINISTAN TO LIFE
The ultimate goal is to renovate and add to the structures and surrounding area until it feels like you are being teleported into an actual city, with street signs, furnished buildings, business signs, etc. This is last on the list for a reason as its wildly costly, but as long as you keep coming to CAX, we'll keep building stuff.
